Why ADHD Coaches are Helpful
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder has received a significant amount of press in recent years. The reason for this is that diagnoses have been rising steadily, with an all-time high percentage of children diagnosed with ADHD in 2011 — 11.1%.
As you can imagine, the upswing of these numbers has raised concerns about the causes. Many researchers and scientists are working hard at trying to unearth one silver bullet cause, but have only been able to attribute ADHD to a variety of factors, including genetics, psychology, and the environment, to name a few.
Treatment of ADHD has also raised a few red flags, as many parents are refusing to over-medicate their child. As a result, some parents have sought ADHD alternative treatments, such as Ayurveda, herbal medicines, and ADHD coaching from a personal life coach.
Life coaching services can often be highly effective for both children and adults with ADHD. These professionals undergo several hours of personal life coach training in order to become certified.
There are few ways that life management coaches can receive certification. They can attend online training modules that allow them to connect with other students and teachers via web conferencing. There are also distance learning courses that are offered through a training center, as well as workshops and mentorship programs where students can collaborate with other experts on how to become a life coach.
Once the training is complete, the International Coach Federation offers certification after these coaches have passed an exam. They can apply to three different types of certifications, namely Associate Certified Coach, Professional Certified Coach, and Master Certified Coach, with each requiring a specific number of coach training and client contact hours. After certification, life coaches can specialize, and many of them opt to help people with ADHD manage their condition.
With the level of expertise and amount of personal life coach training these professionals undergo, they can offer children and adults with ADHD reliable ways to reduce their symptoms.>
