According to Georgetown University, eight percent of Americans experience chronic back pain. That’s a lot of people needing back pain relief treatment. Here are some lower back pain treatment tips from AskDoctorJo.
Pelvic Tilt
Lay down with a pillow under the head. Lift knees so the feet are flat on the floor. Keep your feet about your width of hips. Shift your hips so it will lessen any curve in the back so all of the back is touching the floor. Slide hand under back to make sure there is not a curve lifting some of the back off of the floor. Hold for three to five seconds. Repeat ten times.
Seated Exercise
This is best done in a chair without arms. Twist your upper body so you can grab the side of the chair back. Pull a little to stretch your back muscles. Hold for five to ten seconds. Return to sitting straight. Repeat the exercise on the other side, grabbing the other side of the chair’s back and pulling.
Standing Hamstring Stretch
Stand straight. Stick one leg out so the heel is on the floor and the toes are off of the floor. Bend at the hips slightly in order to feel a pull in the hamstring. Hold for 30 seconds. Repeat with the other leg.
