If you’re suffering from an injury, it’s easy to assume that you’re the only one! There are several types of injuries that are a lot more common than you may realize — meaning that it’s incredibly simple to find treatment from your local doctors or even at an urgent care clinic. Here’s a quick list of some of the most common injuries that people face today:
Back pain: It’s estimated that around seven out of 10 Americans experience enough lower back pain that it severely affects their day-to-day lives. Of those who do experience back pain, four in 10 say that they exercise regularly to relieve the pain — but four out of 10 also say that they don’t seek treatment from a doctor or physical therapy office, either. Despite the fact that lower back pain is common, many people don’t seek treatment simply because they believe it’s something they have to live with.
Ankle sprains: An ankle sprain is another common injury that affects people from all age groups. Research suggests that around 25,000 Americans experience an ankle sprain every single day (although many of these cases aren’t serious enough to require medical treatment).
Dizziness: This isn’t a physical injury per se, but it’s something that can be symptomatic of a serious physical injury. Dizziness is one of the most common complaints heard at doctors’ offices and urgent care clinics, and it’s estimated that around 65% of people ages 60 and older experience some amount of dizziness on a regular basis. Although dizziness isn’t necessarily indicative of a serious illness or injury, it’s often one of the clearest symptoms of an injury related to the brain (or even the ear) and should be checked out by a medical professional.
The average cold or flu is, of course, another common condition that brings people into their local medical center or urgent care clinic — but it’s important to remember that you don’t have to “be sick” in order to seek immediate medical treatment. Even these common injuries can be serious enough to warrant a trip to doctors office!
