Cardiovascular Exercise Biking and Other Forms

Benefits of having a comfortable bike seat

Exercising is difficult, even for Americans who are in a high level of fitness. Exercising involves the use of the human body to perform tasks that take it to another level of exertion. The repeated exertion is supposed to help our cardiovascular and muscular system. As we try new kinds of exercise, our body adapts to the exercise.

And we become stronger or more fit as a result.

The American Heart Association and other health organizations and associations recommend a certain amount of exercise per week. Generally, for better heart health, current recommendations state that exercise three times per week (cardiovascular) helps a heart and its health.

That exercise is generally seen to be cardiovascular. Many recommendations for lower blood pressure and lower cholesterol state that the recommended exercise that is cardiovascular needs to come at least three times per week, for thirty minutes at a time, with the heart rate reaching a certain percentage of the person’s maximum heart rate.

This kind of exercise stimulates the heart, as the exertion means that more blood is needed for the muscles and that it needs to come quicker. Fat that gets in the way of the blood in the bloodstream is dissolved slowly as it is put under pressure from the blood and the heart rate. This helps lower cholesterol.

Hypertension, high pressure in the blood, may raise briefly during a workout, hence why some people experience side effects of overexertion, including dizziness. After, and with repeated cardiovascular exercise, high blood pressure might be lowered. And the resting heart rate will be lower as well. The heart is a muscle and using it makes it stronger.

This makes cardiovascular exercise a healthy form of exercise, where the biological systems within a body are being engaged, including the life sustaining parts. There’s a part of the body that is involved as well that performs life sustaining practices: the lungs.

In cardiovascular exercise, the lungs enable the body to be replete the oxygen. This oxygen flows through the bloodstream and enters the muscles, supplying it with energy to continue with the exercise. A strong set of lungs can also reduce the need for a rapid heart rate, which is why smokers have trouble sustaining cardiovascular workouts.

Cardiovascular exercise puts pressure on the lungs to supply a certain amount of oxygen into the blood stream and to the muscles, working in tandem with the heart to provide the body the ability to keep moving. The lungs are worked in a similar method as the heart. And as the person continues to exercise, the lungs become stronger as well.

There are many different kinds of cardiovascular exercise. There is biking, cycling, walking, running, the elliptical, climbing stairs, jump roping, skiing, swimming, and more. The exercises listed have the opportunity to raise heart levels and stimulate muscle growth, as well as work the lungs, making all three stronger.

Biking is an activity that is considered cardiovascular. At high levels, it can raise the heart rate, cause the lungs to work hard, and burn fat through repeated exertion. There are some statistics surrounding biking that are available. They are included in the following section.

  • In 2015, 36 million Americans from age 7 and up rode a bicycle 6 or more times.
  • In 2010, over 21.8 million adults in the U.S. rode a bicycle 109 days or less.
  • In the United States, less than 3.4 million adults frequently ride bicycles, totaling one-eighth of all adult cyclists.
  • States across the U.S. have seen a 46% increase in the number of people commuting by bicycle since 2005.

Biking also has an effect on coronary heart disease. A study conducted by the British Medical Association found that coronary heart disease was reduced by 50% when people cycled 20 miles a week.

It makes sense that bikers who biked often would need proper equipment to help them. This includes the seats. There are many types of comfortable bike seats, as well as types of bike saddles. There are leather bicycle saddles, leather bike seats, the selle carbon saddle, the carbon saddle, and more.

The carbon saddle is one that is supportive on uphill climbs and shock absorbing on downhill routes. The carbon saddle is used most often in mountain biking. It may be possible to use it in others.
